Developmental and Individual Differences in Working Memory Strategies (Ages 6-10)

The purpose of this study is to understand how language and attention support the development of memory – particularly the strategies that children use to remember. Children will be given sequences of pictures to remember and recreate. They will also play games where they will pay attention for a certain amount of time to earn points.
• Who: Children that have typical hearing, normal or corrected-to-normal vision, and were exposed to American English since birth.
• Age: 6-10 years old
• Compensation: $5 per 15 minutes of testing
• Time: 1 visit of ~1 – 1 ½ hours
• Visit Type: In-person
• Location: Boys Town Medical Campus – Downtown (555 N 30th Street Omaha, NE)
• Requirements: Children should be 6-10 years old. They should have been exposed to American English since birth. They should have typical hearing and normal or corrected-to-normal vision (including red/green colorblindness). Children with intellectual, developmental, or neurological diagnoses (e.g., autism, epilepsy, Down Syndrome) do not qualify.
